A la carte brunch specials and a three-course prix-fixe dinner menu at $60 per person is offered this Sunday. Brunch begins at 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a special Mother’s Day dinner is from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition to the regular brunch menu, Chefs Brian Howard and Danny Waked have created a spring mushrooms and leek quiche with petite greens and shallot vinaigrette; mascarpone stuffed French toast with peaches and cinnamon Chantilly; and a crepe Suzette with orange butter and combier. Chef Jeff Mahin will offer a flower and special package pastry for all moms who come to Stella Barra this year for Mother’s Day. Have mom try the new breakfast pizza menu that includes chilaquiles pizza with Parmesan cream sauce, crispy tortilla strips, grana padano, Fresno chili and green onion. Chef Armstrong offers his regular brunch menu, along with two special dishes in honor of mom. Try his potato and chive waffle with smoked salmon and whipped crème fraiche and mama’s brown sugar pecan sticky buns. The Mother’s Day brunch table is $52 per person and $26 per child. Join Wolfgang Puck for a special Mother’s Day three-course brunch featuring ricotta-lemon blintzes with wild huckleberry compote, grilled black cod with shiro miso, shiso rice and sesame-miso aioli; wild blueberry “hot cakes” with warm Vermont maple syrup and Wolfgang’s classic veal wiener schnitzel. Give mom a cooking class for Mother’s Day. On Thursday, May 15, Terranea Resort will hold its third dinner in the Chef’s Cooking Series led by Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra. The theme is Fleur de Sel, and the dinner will feature dishes made with Chef Ibarra’s handmade sea salt. Start with hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour, followed by a seasonally inspired three-course dinner served with wine pairings by Silver Oak. The dinner will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Chef’s cooking series, offers sun-setting views over the Pacific Ocean. This interactive evening with Terranea’s chefs gives guests recipe cards and special gifts to recreate the experience at home. The Chef’s Cooking Series dinners are limited to 30 guests. Mom will enjoy brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a roving Bloody Mary cart, bottomless Mimosas and Aperol spritzers. Executive Chef Luigi Fineo is offering an à la carte brunch menu. Chef Fineo is cooking family recipes like housemade cavatelli with broccolini, chile, and salmoriglio, or eggs Benedict on ciabatta bread, prosciutto cotto, hollandaise sauce and fresh melon. Mother’s Day Brunch at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is offering herb roasted prime rib, smoked salmon tartine, blueberry pancakes and other brunch options for $42 a person. A tableside Bloody Mary cart with unlimited garnishes lets diners select celery, asparagus spears, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, strips of smoky bacon, artichoke hearts, Spanish chorizo, olives, and jumbo shrimp to adorn their drink. Mom will taste the flavors of spring with a three-course prix fixe brunch on May 11. Dakota Weiss is cooking a special two course brunch plus dessert for mom’s and their family for $59 at the poolside restaurant The Backyard. There is a kid’s menu too. They also have a menu for the family dog at The Backyard. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles

Give mom the “Royal-Tea Treatment,” with an afternoon of carefully crafted culinary creations and pampering spa services. The experience begins with “Tea at the Top,” a majestic tea service set against the grandeur of the downtown skyline at WP24 Restaurant. Some of the items include a salmon sashimi and king crab salad. Sweets include white peach scones and raspberry financiers. Seatings are available at 1, 1:30 and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Try his grilled King salmon or buttermilk fried chicken and jalapeno cheddar French toast. Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel & Resort

Mother’s Day with its seaside setting at the onsite Coastal Grill Restaurant. The brunch offers four food stations starting with an Asian salad and Baja Spring roll.  Egg selections include a petite Denver omelet and crème brulee French toast. The carving station consists of barbecued ribs, grilled halibut and stuffed Mediterranean chicken.
