Shortly before noon, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division received a call about a woman screaming inside a second-floor apartment at 4595 Wilshire Blvd., at the corner of Muirfield Road. When they arrived, the suspect confronted police and allegedly assaulted one of the officers, who sustained superficial injuries, according to Sgt. Brian Valle.

The officer radioed that he needed help during the struggle with the suspect. However, other patrol officers could not reach the officer via radio, prompting eight squad cars to respond.

“When they entered, there was a language barrier — the parties were Korean,” Valle said. “They got into a use of force incident. I believe the officer had a bruised arm. They put out a call for back up because they were tussling with him. He was pretty agitated, but they were able to get him into custody.”

The suspect, who was not identified, was booked for resisting arrest. The female victim at the residence sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. Valle said the incident would be investigated by Wilshire Division detectives, and charges for domestic violence would be pending against the suspect.
