Rigby gives you much to crow about
By Karen Villalpando, 1/17/2013
She flies through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young 60-year-old Cathy Rigby.
Once again returning to the stage as Peter Pan, in the award-winning musical “Peten Pan”, Rigby dazzles the audience with her high-flying acrobatics, looking all of the age of 26 – seriously. Her high energy and remarkable nimbleness astounded the crowd on opening night.
Accompanied by Brent Barrett as both Mr. Darling and Captain Hook, Rigby is the main attraction. Barrett lands a fine Hook, with a band of similarly talented pirates, but Rigby’s youth steals the show. After the dance number with Tiger Lily, a nymph-like ballerina, most 60-year-olds would need oxygen – but Rigby drums on.
The two-hour and 15 minute show, now playing at the Pantages is a delight, for all of us who never want to grow up. Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 1pm & 6:30pm. Visit www.broadwayla for ticket information.
