Melting Pot Thai Town Tour

Meet a group of foodie enthusiasts on Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m. for a tasting tour of Thai Town with celebrity chef Jet Tila. The taste tour runs from savory to sweet. Visit six restaurants and shops to sample tasty Thai papaya salad, Jade noodles and a coconut banana fritter. The cost of the interactive tour is $99 per person. Bavarian Night is Jan. 5 from 5 p.m. to midnight. Enjoy the fun Oktoberfest festivities with live traditional German music, food and drink specials. The staff is dressed in dirndls and lederhosen to enhance the atmosphere. Join a drinking contest and throw some darts. Bavarian Nights are once a month on the first Saturday of the month. 345 N. Artbites

Maite Gomez-Rejon blends fine art with culinary art on Jan. 14 and Jan. 15. Guests start the evening at 6:30 p.m. by exploring Italian paintings, sculptures and decorative art at LACMA. Then the group will walk to Ray’s & Stark Bar for a three-course meal prepared by Chef Kris Morningstar. His menu is inspired by the evening’s art theme. The dinners focus on Italian Art and Gastronomy. Participants will discuss Ancient Rome through the 18th century. Theme wines tastings by sommelier Paul Sanguinetti are available for an additional cost at dinner. The evening costs $90 for LACMA members and $100 for non-members. Price includes exhibition tour and dinner. Unique Burger at Slater’s 50/50

Try the Peanut Butter and Jellousy burger with 50 percent prime Sterling Silver ground beef and 50 percent ground bacon. The white brioche or honey wheat bun is slathered with creamy peanut butter and strawberry jelly. The juicy patty is topped with thick cuts of bacon. Canter’s Deli

Breakfast is served 24 hours a day at this Fairfax Ave. landmark. Come for the eggs benedict served on an English muffin or potato latkes. They serve five varieties that include Florentine, avocado, smoked salmon, pastrami and the traditional Canadian bacon. Canter’s pressed breakfast sandwiches include the Sunrise with a fried egg, thick-cut bacon or turkey bacon, tomato, and cheddar cheese on a pressed English muffin. Currywurst

Enjoy authentic German fare on Fairfax Avenue. Start with a sliced Currywurst sausage with mild, medium or hot curry powder and homemade curry ketchup. Add a side of French fries with mayonnaise and ketchup (Rot/Weiss) for a meal under $10. You can order a pork/veal bockwurst, a slightly spicy Hungarian pork sausage or a chicken sausage.
