A 36-year-old convicted felon pleaded guilty on Nov. 9 to 16 counts of receiving thousands of dollars worth of stolen cameras, laptops, jewelry and high-end electronics, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Brownstone said Sean Rey pleaded “open” to Judge Rand S. Rubin, meaning there was no negotiated settlement from prosecutors.

Rey was arrested April 17 after an alert resident called police when he noticed a suspicious suspect driving a Mercedes convertible. Los Angeles police tracked the rented car to Rey. When they searched his apartment, police discovered hundreds of stolen items. Much of the property had been reported stolen in a series of car burglaries in the Hollywood area.

Rey, who was on probation at the time of his arrest for pleading guilty to receiving stolen property in 2011, is facing four years in state prison when he returns Dec. 4 for sentencing.
