The stabbing occurred around 2 a.m. near the northwest corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue, according to Lt. Marc Reina, with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division.
“The two groups were walking towards each other when they bumped into each other,” Reina said. “Words were exchanged and a suspect in one group produced a large knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen.”
He said the victim was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery Wednesday morning. The male suspect and a second man he was with fled on foot on Hollywood Boulevard. The suspect is described as being Caucasian, approximately 38 years old, five-feet-six-inches to five-feet-eight-inches tall and 150 to 175 pounds. He was wearing black clothing, and was carrying a large “hunting-type” knife, Reina said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact detectives with the Hollywood Division at (213)972-2967 or (213)972-2972.
