Sheriff’s Department Releases Stats

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, homicides have decreased but overall crime has increased during the first six months of this year.
As of the end of June, preliminary crime data shows that reported overall incidents of violent crimes (Part 1) have increased 4.66 percent, and serious property crimes reported (Part I) have increased by 6.33 percent countywide, compared to last year at this time. The numbers combined to show a 6.02 percent increase in overall Part I crimes.
In comparison, preliminary crime data shows that reported overall incidents of violent crimes reported have decreased 21.31 percent, and serious property crimes reported have decreased by 14.93 percent in sheriff’s patrol areas countywide, over a five-year period. The numbers combined to show a 16.19 percent decrease in overall Part 1 crimes.
As of the end of June, preliminary crime data shows that criminal homicides decreased by 9.68 percent, and have decreased by 39.13 percent compared to five years ago.
