Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division have arrested a former Los Angeles Unified School District teacher’s aide and soccer coach for unlawful sexual activity with a child, and are seeking additional victims.

Jorge Dominguez, 25, was taken into custody on May 17 by Rampart Division detectives and investigators with the LAPD’s Juvenile Division, Sexually Exploited Child Unit. He remains in custody, with bail  set at $100,000.

Dominguez was formerly a part-time teacher’s aid and a soccer coach at Gratts Learning Academy, northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The victim, who was 12 years old when the alleged abuse began, is not a Gratts student. The defendant met the boy at his former place of employment, Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, where the defendant was formerly a youth sports coach, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The alleged offenses took place between June 5, 2009, and May 17, according to the criminal complaint.

Dominguez has been charged with 10 counts of a lewd act on a child under 14.  He is also charged with one count each of lewd act on a child 14 or older and possession of child pornography. If convicted, Dominguez faces a maximum sentence of 27 years, four months in state prison.

Although Dominguez has been charged with lewd acts against one child, officials believe he may have been involved with criminal activity with other children.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD’s 24-hour hotline at (877)LAPD247.
