Around 1:30 p.m. on May 13, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 1200 block of North Ogden Drive regarding a service call to check the welfare of a dog locked inside of a vehicle.

Due to rising temperatures, deputies entered the vehicle to rescue the animal. In an effort to identify the animal’s owner, a bag located inside the vehicle was opened, exposing several bundles of sealed marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of U.S. currency. The dog, which was identified as a German Pointer, was safely removed and placed in the care of Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control personnel. It was listed in good condition.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Bureau responded and conducted an investigation. The money and marijuana were seized as evidence. The amount of money was estimated to be more than $10,000. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $24,000. The vehicle was also impounded as evidence.

The vehicle in which the dog, marijuana and money were located was identified as a red, 1993 Nissan Pathfinder with Arizona license plates.

Anyone with information about this incident, or the vehicle or dog’s owner, is encouraged to contact Narcotics Bureau Detective Sergeant Kenneth Davidson at (310)855-8850 ext. 430.
