Dozens of firefighters extinguished a greater alarm fire on July 14 at the C.P. Three Prop House, a movie prop warehouse located at 1107 N. Bronson Ave.

The blaze reportedly caused $1.5 million in damage to the contents of the building, and approximately $200,000 in damage to the structure. The warehouse is part of a group of buildings near Santa Monica Boulevard and Bronson Avenue owned by Omega Cinema Props.

Firefighter Rich Metheney, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said members of the public reported the blaze around 10:00pm, and firefighters encountered flames and heavy smoke when they arrived at the scene. Metheney added that extinguishing the fire was particularly challenging because of the large size of the warehouse and the thick smoke that filled the building.

“It was difficult to access the seat of the fire, which is the origin,” Metheney said. “There was a fierce internal fire attack, with members of the truck companies on the roof allowing the smoke to escape, and directing the firefighters inside. The building was loaded with movie props.”

Metheney said the origin of the fire was eventually located near the northern wall of the 100 by 150-foot structure, and the flames were extinguished around 11:20pm. He said a total of 91 firefighters from 12 companies were involved, and no injuries were reported. An investigation by the LAFD’s Arson Unit is currently underway into the cause of the blaze.
