Officials identify transient found dead in WeHo

By Edwin Folven, 2/14/2013

Los Angeles County Coroner’s officials have identified a man found dead in the 8700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Feb. 9 as Emory Clark, 47.

Corner’s Office spokesman Ed Winter said Clark apparently died of natural causes, but an official cause of death would not be determined until toxicology tests are completed. An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, and the final reports will likely take several weeks, Winter said. Clark was described as being a transient, and Winter said officials do not have any past addresses for the victim.

Lt. Mike White, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, confirmed a body was found around 9:20 a.m. on Feb. 9 in the walkway of a business on Santa Monica Boulevard. There was no indication of foul play, and deputies turned the investigation over to the coroner’s office.

He was from Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from R.J.Reynolds High School Class of 1984. He was a talented actor and kind to all who he met.

My friends and I are so sad to hear this news. He will be missed.

    Please keep us updated.

Emory Clark was my friend in High school. He was a deeply kind, caring person. He also had one of the most amazing singing voices I have ever heard. I’m so sorry his life ended this way. I pray that he is at peace from whatever problems he must have had recently. He is remembered very fondly by many in North Carolina and he is mourned.

It was shocking to find out that Emory had pased away and even more tragic to learn of these circumstances. He was a very special person and I, like Fran, pray that he is now at peace.
