LAPD releases few details on shooting
Three people have been arrested for the murder of a 42-year-old Laurel Avenue resident found dead on the front porch of his home on Nov. 1. Investigators were releasing few details Wednesday, however, pending the filing of charges with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Erik Poltorak, who lived in the 300 block of North Laurel Avenue. A co-worker found the body on the porch around 11:20 a.m. after he went to the residence to check on Poltorak, who had been shot multiple times. Det. Jim Freund, of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide Unit, said he could not provide information about the suspects or motive, but said the murder was not a random act of violence. It was reported in the media that Poltorak was an executive at a sex fashion company.
“The neighbors at large aren’t in any danger,” Freund added. “Sometimes, we can’t release details because of the nature of the investigation.”
Freund said neighbors told investigators that they heard what sounded like gunshots between 2 and 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 1, but no one called police. He added that the investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with additional information is asked to call the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide Unit at (213)382-9470.
