Occupy protesters waved signs decrying corporate tax breaks and calling for equality. A number of protesters drove down Wilshire with signs affixed to their vehicles. Four separate Occupy LA marches — dubbed “the four winds” by protesters — were set to advance from the north, south, east and west and converge in downtown Los Angeles to join the May Day protest, which drew approximately several thousand people, according to the ANSWER Coalition. The Los Angeles Police Department increased patrols for the day, said Capt. Eric Davis of the LAPD’s Wilshire Division.
