Dr. Ofer Mazar, the office’s administrative consul, said the new location in the Wilshire Landmark II building at 11766 Wilshire Blvd. will allow for better security and infrastructure, and it already houses eight other consulate generals.

“It’s like a mini U.N. in here,” Mazar said.

He said the office will also be more centrally-located for the city’s Israeli population, the majority of whom reside in the San Fernando Valley. However, it has moved from the center of its work in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, West Hollywood and downtown L.A., Mazar said.

“But we’re compensating with a lot of social media and new medias,” he added.

Mazar said the new office of the consulate general, David Siegel, will allow employees to provide better customer service. Security-wise, it’s a whole new world for the office, he said.

“We’re better at what we do right now,” Mazar said.

He said the office signed a 20-year lease, and staffers worked for six months to prepare the office, which is on the 16th floor. Employees will need some time to adapt, but the new location is, overall, an upgrade, Mazar said.

“It’s very, very cozy and nice,” he added.

Mazar said the office has done plenty of outreach, using social media, newsletters, its website and news publications to spread the word. More outreach is expected though, as the consul general’s office prepares to celebrate Israeli’s Day of Independence on April 25. The consulate office will join the Israeli Leadership Council in celebrating the holiday at Rancho Park on April 29, when 15,000 to 25,000 residents are expected to attend.
